Info Channels as Intranet

Set up info channels – the modern version of an intranet.

Updated yesterday

You’ll need Admin access to complete this guide.

An information channel turns off the chat field for everyone except the administrators of the chat. This allows many people to be in the same chat without it becoming noisy.

How to do it

Press Chat > New chat > Information channel.

An (i) appears in front of the chat name to indicate that it is an information channel. Click Name.

Choose a name and emoji for the information channel.

You are now ready to add people to the information channel. Click Add.

Add your whole organisation or just those you prefer. All members of the organisation will automatically be added and removed when you get new employees. You must be a super administrator to add the organisation. Administrators can add the locations they manage.

Add a chat administrator

Go to the dot menu > View members.

Find the person in the chat that you want to be an administrator. Click dot menu >

Set as chat administrator.

Click Administrators at the top to see the administrators. Here you can also remove them.

See who has (not) seen and reacted

Click on the reactions or faces next to a message. If you see no reactions or faces, no one has seen or reacted to your message.

All members of the chat can react with any emoji. By clicking the reactions you can see who has reacted and who hasn’t. This can be used to confirm tasks or as a mini survey.

Wondering if people are getting the messages? You can click the faces to see who has seen and not seen the messages.
